ENERGY BOOSTING GREEN SMOOTHIE

This week has been really up and down for me in terms of balancing my work schedule and my meals. Sometimes you just can't help it, it happens! I loose sight of listening to my body because I'm so caught up in other things and then wonder why I feel sluggish, low energy, tired or grumpy. I don't know about you but once I stop and really think about it, how I feel almost always leads back to nutrition; what I've been putting into my body lately and as a result how that's impacted my everyday life. As a result of getting back to feeling motivated, I needed a morning smoothie that would help me do just that.

This green smoothie really helps me detox, brings me back to the basics of my nutrition and has everything I need to start my day. I added half a cup of spinach onto the already +Greens in my Vega One Vanilla Protein Powder but kale will work just as well. As for the milk I like using unsweetened almond milk in most of my smoothies, but another nut milk will work beautifully also. If You're not into that you can try coconut water for extra hydration.

Another thing I have been trying to do is limit my coffee intake. Coming from a girl who has spent her time working in many a cafe over the years, this is a pretty big challenge. I wasn't that into coffee until I was surrounded by it all day every day. Not to mention the endless coffees I could drink for free. To some this may sound like a dream but to me it was super easy to become addicted to one or even three cups a day.

It wasn't until I worked elsewhere and after a ton of research I learnt about how badly caffeine was affecting my energy levels, and not to mention my sensitive skin. Caffeine is in all sorts of things; soft drinks, chocolate and protein bars just to name a few. All of these things usually contain amounts of sugar that are over the moon and needless to say my skin was not thanking me for it. I had break outs all the time. Matcha was such an easy and delicious swap. You can find my favourite matcha here. I'm not saying I only have matcha now, ever, but now and again it's a great substitute for a caffeine fix!
