Making Lemonade

I don't know about your but with everything that's happening right now I can't help but feel scared and confused. I have moments where I feel fine and then from time to time I think about the magnitude of the situation and it seems overwhelming. How long will this go one for? What will happen tomorrow? Next week? Next month? There is a lot of uncertainty around us right now. I am used to finding things out right away and I'm not going to lie, being patient can be hard. We're taking each day as it comes and trying more than ever to be prepared.. yet go with the flow; talk about contradictions!

I've found it difficult myself to settle my mind the last few nights to get to sleep and tune out of social media and the constant updates that come with it. Now is the time more than ever to do the reverse of what I feel. Finding ways every day to keep my restless mind calm, stick to my evening routine to wind down and turn off social media, no matter how strong the temptation is.

Here is what I plan on doing to make the most out of the situation that we are in. Life is handing us a whole lot of lemons right now and I'm trying my hardest to make some lemonade out of it. Who's with me?

1. Drinking water! You guessed it. It makes me feel healthier consuming water, first thing in the morning and as much as possible throughout the day. It also distracts me from constant snacking which is easily done when I'm in the house all the time.

2. I'm sticking to my routines. Whether that be a morning work out, afternoon cup of tea, or night time skincare routine. When you ask yourself, does this really matter? YES. It really does.

3. I'm putting limits on how much social media I consume. Limiting myself to no social media the first hour after I wake up and an hour before bed at least.

4. I'm upping my gratitude game. trying my best to write down 5 specific things every day that I'm grateful for. It doesn't have to be first thing in the morning, although this helps me think about what happened the day before that was happy and positive, and also sets a positive tone for my day ahead.

5. I'm reconnecting with my personal goals. Now is the time to take action, I want to make the time to create the plans I claim I never have time to think about. I'm writing things down and mapping out what I can.

5. I'm calling my family. I live far away from my family but even if you don't I still feel like this one is super important. It is important for me that I check in with my friends and family every day, even through a message to connect and hear how they're feeling right now. If there was ever a time to be supportive of one another it's now. Let's encourage each other and lift each other up during this time. Social distancing means physical distancing, not emotional distancing.

Hope this has helped of few of ya'll! If you have any questions, comments, or tips of your own feel free to comment below! Show me some love by sharing my blog post on social!

Be safe and healthy,

Julie xx
